RSV Vaccine Announcement

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is an infectious disease affecting the airways and lungs. A new vaccine has been developed and will be introduced in September 2024 for both older adults and pregnant women from 28 weeks of pregnancy. This is a single-dose vaccine, administered just once.

Who is Eligible to Receive the Vaccination?

Older Adults – Everyone turning 75 years old on or after 01 September 2024 will be offered a single dose of the RSV vaccine, as older adults are at higher risk of serious complications from RSV. Individuals aged 75 to 79 years on 01 September 2024 will also be included in a catch-up programme, and you can receive the vaccine up to the day before you turn 80.

Pregnant Ladies – Pregnant Ladies from 28 weeks of pregnancy will be offered the vaccine. If you haven’t heard from the practice and reach 28 weeks, please contact us to arrange an appointment at the surgery for your vaccination.

The first clinic has been set up and will run on Saturday 07 September 8am to 1pm. The practice is in the process of sending our invites but if you haven’t heard and are eligible according to the criteria above please contact us to book an appointment.
