Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using:

Antental clinics

Antenatal clinics are run at each of our surgeries by the practice midwives. If you know that you are pregnant please arrange to see your usual doctor as soon as possible. They will complete the appropriate forms and will ask you to go to reception to make a booking appointment with the midwife.

Cervical screening

Cervical screening (Smear Test) can prevent cancer of the cervix by finding abnormal changes before cancer develops. Regular smear tests can save your life.

Practice nurses are qualified to perform smears on behalf of the doctors. Most women have their first smear aged 25, then tri-yearly until the age of 49. After 49, the screening takes place every 5 years. NHS England automatically sends a reminder to women who are due for a test from the age of 20 years.

Breast examinationa

We encourage all women to regularly examine their breasts and if they need help or advice about, this they should please contact the practice nurse.

Baby clinics

Well baby clinics are held in Gloucester and the surrounding area with health visitors who provide advice about:

  • Feeding babies and toddlers.
  • How to get a good night’s sleep.
  • Toilet training/tantrums.
  • Feelings and anxieties.
  • Minor illnesses/first aid.
  • Concerns about vision, hearing or speech.

Child health checks

Routine health assessments are carried out on babies at:

  • 6 weeks – by GP and health visitors
  • 9 months – by health visitors, and again at 2 years by health visitors

You will be notified when your child is due for an assessment by the health visitor. You are welcome to contact the health visitor if you have any concerns. Please ensure you bring your child’s “Red Book” to all routine health assessments.
